Planning notes
The 2026–2027 District instructional calendar school calendar begins Aug 18, 2026 and ends May 27, 2027 (2027-05-28 is reserved for make-up instruction if needed, after the published last student day.).
This is an independent calendar reference, not a Tomball ISD website. District and campus announcements control schedule changes, dismissal times and any use of make-up dates.

Editorial summary
The first student day is Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Classes are scheduled to end Thursday, May 27, 2027, when every school dismisses early. May 28 remains available for make-up instruction. Families planning to travel right after school ends should check whether that Friday will be needed.
Tomball ISD does not label October 8–12 as Fall Break on its instructional calendar. October 8–9 and October 12 are staff-development/workdays with no student classes; the weekend in between creates five consecutive days off. Students return October 13. November 2–3 are also student holidays for staff workdays, and November 3 falls on Election Day.
Thanksgiving holidays run November 23–27, with classes resuming November 30. The official Winter Break is December 21 through January 1, but January 4–5 are separate staff days. Students return Wednesday, January 6. Including weekends, the full stretch without classes is December 19–January 5, or 18 days.
Presidents Day on February 15 and the staff workday on March 12 are both listed as possible make-up dates. They have no regular student classes scheduled, but either could become a school day if make-up instruction is needed. Spring Break itself is March 15–19, and Good Friday on March 26 is a separate holiday that is not on the make-up list.
Early release depends on the school level. All schools dismiss early December 18 and May 27; high schools have two additional early-release dates, December 17 and May 26. The instructional PDF does not state early-release times, so check campus notices. October 7 and March 11 mark reporting-period ends, not early dismissal.
Regular dismissal times depend on the campus. In 2026–27, Tomball High dismisses at 2:40 p.m. and Tomball Star Academy at 2:20 p.m. Elementary dismissal is 3:50 p.m. or 4:05 p.m., depending on the school. First bell, tardy bell and ADA attendance time are listed separately, and none of these regular times is an early-release pickup time.
Common questions
The first student day is Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The earlier August dates on the calendar are staff preparation and new-teacher days, not regular student classes.
The published last day is Thursday, May 27, 2027, with early release for all schools. Friday, May 28, is reserved as a make-up day if needed, so students could be required to attend after the scheduled last day.
Under the published schedule, summer break begins after early dismissal on May 27. May 28 is a possible make-up day, so confirm whether students will need to attend before making plans that depend on that Friday being free.
Yes. The calendar PDF states that the Tomball ISD Board approved it on March 18, 2025. Use the current official download and district announcements when checking for later changes.
Yes. Monday, September 7, 2026, is a staff and student holiday. Classes resume Tuesday, September 8, after the three-day weekend.
Students have no classes October 8–12, 2026. October 8–9 and October 12 are staff-development/workdays, with a weekend in between. The district does not formally label this period Fall Break on its instructional PDF. Students return Tuesday, October 13.
No. October 12 is a staff-development/workday and a student holiday. It is the final day of the October student break; classes resume October 13.
No. In 2026–27, reporting periods end October 7, December 18, March 11 and May 27. Only December 18 and May 27 are all-school early-release dates. October 7 and March 11 are scheduled regular school days.
No. November 2–3 are staff-development/workdays with no student classes. The calendar uses that staff-day designation, not a separately named Election Day holiday. Students return Wednesday, November 4.
No holiday is listed for Wednesday, November 11, 2026. It is a scheduled school day under the published calendar.
Thanksgiving holidays are November 23–27. With the weekends before and after, students have November 21–29 without classes. School resumes Monday, November 30.
The official Winter Break is December 21, 2026, through January 1, 2027. January 4–5 are separate staff-development/workdays with no student classes.
Students return Wednesday, January 6, 2027. January 4 and 5 are student holidays while staff have development or workdays.
Students have 18 consecutive calendar days without classes, December 19, 2026, through January 5, 2027. That includes the winter holidays, weekends and two January staff days. December 18 is still a school day, with early dismissal.
Yes. Monday, January 18, 2027, is a staff and student holiday. Classes are scheduled to resume Tuesday, January 19. This date is not on the calendar’s make-up list.
February 15 is listed as the Presidents Day holiday and also as a make-up day if needed. It is a planned day off, not a guaranteed one. February 12 is a separate staff-development day with no student classes.
During the regular student year, the dates are October 8–9 and 12, November 2–3, January 4–5, February 12 and March 12. March 12 may become an attendance day because it is also reserved for make-up instruction. Pre-opening staff days are not student attendance days.
Spring Break is March 15–19, 2027. Students return Monday, March 22. The preceding Friday, March 12, is a separate staff day and possible make-up date, not part of the official Spring Break holiday.
The confirmed break including weekends is nine days, March 13–21. It becomes ten consecutive days, March 12–21, if March 12 remains a student holiday. The district may use March 12 for make-up classes.
March 12 is scheduled as a staff-development/workday with no student classes, but it is also a reserved make-up date. Check district announcements before assuming that Friday will be a day off.
Yes. Friday, March 26, 2027, is a staff and student holiday. Unlike March 12, it is not designated as a possible make-up day.
Monday, March 29, 2027, is a scheduled school day. The calendar lists Good Friday, March 26, as a holiday, but does not list Easter Monday as a day off.
The three dates are February 15, March 12 and May 28, 2027. Each is currently listed without regular student classes but may be used for make-up instruction. May 28 follows the published last school day. The PDF does not state an activation order.
All schools have early release Friday, December 18, 2026, and Thursday, May 27, 2027. Both are student attendance days, and May 27 is the scheduled last day of school.
High schools also release early Thursday, December 17, 2026, and Wednesday, May 26, 2027. Elementary, intermediate and junior high schools have regular schedules on those two dates. High schools also participate in the December 18 and May 27 all-school early releases.
The instructional calendar gives the dates but not dismissal times. Regular dismissal times on the Bell Schedules page are not early-release times. Check the campus schedule or school notice for the correct pickup time.
The four reporting periods end October 7 and December 18, 2026, and March 11 and May 27, 2027. Only the December and May dates are all-school early-release days. These are grading boundaries, not report-card posting dates.
The instructional calendar does not give report-card release dates. Families should check Home Access Center and campus announcements for availability rather than assume reports appear on the reporting-period end date.
We calculate 170 planned student attendance days from the published calendar. This total is not printed in the official PDF. Early-release dates count as attendance days, while possible make-up dates and later district changes may affect the final schedule.
Canyon Pointe, Creekside Forest, Decker Prairie, Lakewood, Rosehill, Timber Creek and Tomball elementary schools list an 8:40 a.m. tardy bell and 3:50 p.m. dismissal. Creekview, Grand Oaks, West, Wildwood and Willow Creek list 8:55 a.m. and 4:05 p.m. Early Excellence Academy lists 9:40 a.m. and 4:05 p.m. First bells are earlier; check the campus table for arrival times.
No. For 2026-27, Tomball Intermediate lists an 8:00 a.m. tardy bell, while Northpointe, Oakcrest and West list 8:10 a.m. All four list a 7:40 a.m. first bell and 3:10 p.m. dismissal.
Creekside Park lists a 7:30 a.m. first bell, 7:55 a.m. tardy bell and 3:10 p.m. dismissal. Grand Lakes and Willow Wood list 7:00 a.m., 7:20 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tomball Junior High lists 7:05 a.m., 7:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Tomball High’s tardy bell is 7:20 a.m., with dismissal at 2:40 p.m. Tomball Memorial and Tomball West list 7:20 a.m. and 2:35 p.m. Tomball Star Academy lists 7:15 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. These are regular schedules; the first bell rings earlier and early-release days have separate dismissal arrangements.
No. The 2026-27 Bell Schedules page lists them separately. The first bell precedes the tardy bell; ADA time is an attendance-recording checkpoint, not an arrival time. For example, Tomball High lists 7:00 a.m., 7:20 a.m. and 9:51 a.m., respectively. Use your campus’s arrival instructions.
The district says its website will be updated by 6 a.m. if schools are closing for severe weather. It also uses automated phone, text and email notifications, social media and local television. No announcement is made when campuses remain open on their regular schedule. Keep family contact information current and check official updates.
No. The instructional calendar does not list graduation ceremony dates. As of October 22, 2026, Tomball High School's senior page said its Class of 2027 graduation date would be announced later. Check the district's Graduation page and your high school for the latest ceremony information.
Use the official PDF link on this page, or select Instructional Calendar 2026-27 on Tomball ISD’s Instructional Calendar page. The district also links a separate UIL calendar; that document serves a different purpose from the student instructional calendar.
Friday, December 18, 2026, is the last scheduled student day before Winter Break, and all schools release early. Students return Wednesday, January 6, 2027, after the winter holidays and two January staff days.
Check the latest Tomball ISD announcements and messages from your child's school. The approved calendar identifies possible make-up dates but does not confirm whether they will be used or in what order. A date listed as a possible make-up day should not be treated as a confirmed day off without checking for updates.

The supplied one-page calendar was extracted and visually reviewed. The current PDF linked by Tomball ISD was downloaded and its SHA-256 matched the local file. Both years are separately Board-approved; approval is printed in each PDF. The live calendar page and News Releases were checked for later operating changes.
Red boxes are staff/student holidays; gray boxes are staff development/workdays and student holidays. Green underlined numbers are reporting-period ends, not an early-release legend. Early release is taken from the written all-school and high-school-only lists. October staff dates are stored as a two-day range plus a separate Monday, not one official Fall Break. Each break range contains only weekends and confirmed no-class weekdays; nearby conditional make-up days are omitted and explained separately. Make-up dates preserve their underlying holiday or staff-day identity, plus MAKEUP_DAY and possible attendance flags. The May make-up date is retained because it may affect students after the published last day; other staff-only preparation dates and post-year holidays/workdays are omitted. No activation order is assumed. Quarter starts after the first day are derived from the return to scheduled instruction; no semester lengths or report-card release dates are inferred. The annual attendance total is calculated, not printed in the PDF. Early release still counts as attendance. No graduation date is inferred from the currently posted Class of 2026 information.
Official downloads, campus bell schedule page, closure notifications and News Releases reviewed October 22, 2026. Only the supplied 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 calendars are populated. Check current district announcements before using a possible make-up day as a day off.
