Planning notes
The 2026–2027 Academic Calendar school calendar begins Aug 13, 2026 and ends May 26, 2027.
The calendar notes that dates may change with legislative and Texas Education Agency decisions, District of Innovation renewal or unforeseen circumstances. Confirm dismissal times, conference appointments and any use of weather make-up dates with your school or district.
Editorial summary
Spring Branch ISD begins the 2026-2027 year on Thursday, August 13. The first grading period ends October 8, followed by staff development on October 9 and a student holiday October 12. Those dates create a four-day weekend, with classes back October 13. Thanksgiving week is November 23-27. The fall semester ends December 18, and students return from winter break January 5 after a January 4 staff development day.
Pickup plans depend on your child's school level. Pre-K, elementary and middle school students dismiss early September 23 for staff development. Pre-K and elementary students also leave early for parent conferences October 22–23 and February 4–5; middle school has another early dismissal February 4, while high school has separate early-dismissal dates October 7 and March 3. At each semester's end, middle and high school students have three consecutive shortened days, while Pre-K and elementary students have one. The PDF does not give dismissal times.
Spring break is March 8-12, with classes resuming March 15. March 26 is another student holiday. April 26 and May 27 may become school days if weather make-up instruction is needed. May 26 remains the last scheduled instructional day unless the district announces a change.
Common questions
The first student day is Thursday, August 13, 2026. It also starts the fall semester and the first nine-week grading period.
The scheduled last day of instruction is Wednesday, May 26, 2027, with early dismissal for all school levels. May 27 is reserved for possible weather make-up classes, so follow district announcements before making end-of-year plans.
The calendar lists 176 student days: 83 in the first semester and 93 in the second. Early-dismissal days are still school days.
SBISD does not list a separate full-week Fall Break. Students have a four-day weekend October 9–12: October 9 is a staff-development/student holiday, October 12 is a staff/student holiday, and classes resume October 13. The next full week off is Thanksgiving week, November 23–27.
Students have the full week of November 23-27, 2026, off. The next regular school day is Monday, November 30.
The winter holidays run December 21, 2026-January 1, 2027. January 4 is also a student holiday for staff development, so classes resume Tuesday, January 5, with the spring semester.
Spring break is Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 12, 2027. Students return Monday, March 15, when the fourth grading period begins.
Pre-K and elementary students dismiss early September 23, October 22-23 and December 18, 2026, plus February 4-5 and May 26, 2027. The October and February dates are parent/teacher conference days. Your campus will provide dismissal times and conference appointments.
The academic calendar lists Pre-K and elementary parent-teacher conferences on October 22–23, 2026, and February 4–5, 2027. Pre-K and elementary students have early dismissal on those dates. Contact your campus for conference appointments.
Middle school students leave early September 23 and December 16-18, 2026, then February 4 and May 24-26, 2027. February 5 is an early-dismissal day for Pre-K and elementary students only. Check with your middle school for pickup and bus times.
High school early dismissal is October 7 and December 16-18, 2026, followed by March 3 and May 24-26, 2027. The September 23 and February 4 staff development dismissals do not include high school. Confirm the dismissal time with your campus.
The 2026-2027 academic calendar lists early-dismissal dates by school level but does not publish dismissal times. Families should check their campus schedule or school communications for the pickup and bus schedule.
Monday, April 26, and Thursday, May 27, 2027, may be used if make-up instruction is needed. April 26 is normally a staff/student holiday, and May 27 is normally a teacher workday. They become student attendance days only if the district announces make-up classes.
No. Monday, September 7, 2026, is marked as a staff/student holiday in the academic calendar.
Yes. Tuesday, November 3, 2026, is listed as a staff/student holiday. It is a full day off, not an early-dismissal day.
Students are off Monday, January 18, 2027. The PDF marks the date as a holiday for both staff and students.
No. Monday, February 15, 2027, is a student holiday while staff have professional development. The academic calendar labels the date “Staff Development – Student Holiday” rather than naming Presidents’ Day.
Friday, March 26, 2027, is a staff/student holiday. Monday, March 29, is not marked as a holiday on the academic calendar, so regular classes resume that Monday.
November 11, 2026, is not listed as a student holiday in this academic calendar. The November closures are November 3 and Thanksgiving week, November 23-27.
The four periods are August 13-October 8, 2026, with 40 student days; October 13-December 18, with 43; January 5-March 5, 2027, with 42; and March 15-May 26, with 51. The second and fourth periods also close their semesters.
The academic calendar PDF does not list assessment dates. SBISD links a separate Testing Calendars page from its Events page. Use that page and your campus notices for the testing schedule that applies to your child.
The official English PDF is linked on this page and under Academic Calendar 2026-27 on the district Events page.

Source and scope
Dates and school-level schedules come from Spring Branch ISD's English Academic Calendar 2026-2027. The district Events page links to the English academic PDF and a separate Testing Calendars page.
Events retain the official holiday ranges and separate January 1 holiday; continuous time away from school is stored in breaks with component event references. Official means a directly printed date, label or range, including boundaries marked on the calendar grid. Derived includes normalized names, internal event classifications, attendance-status mappings, grade scopes and editorial notes. Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break are family-facing classifications of the PDF’s Holiday – Staff / Students entries, not official source labels. The Winter Break key date combines December 21–31 and January 1 and therefore has a derived range. Pre-K and elementary conference days retain their shortened student schedule, while secondary early dismissal is recorded separately. Orientation and employee workdays outside the student year are omitted, except May 27 because it may become a student make-up day. Existing event IDs are retained for subscription continuity.
The PDF prints board approval on November 18, 2024, and does not print a revision date. The current English download and its link on the district Events page were checked on October 6, 2026.
