Planning notes
The 2026–2027 school calendar begins Aug 12, 2026 and ends May 14, 2027.
This independent reference is not operated by Frisco ISD. Families should confirm transportation, testing, bell schedules, course rotations, and emergency changes with the district or their child's campus.
Editorial summary
Frisco ISD will end the 2026-27 school year one week earlier than normal because of expected traffic and crowding around the May 2027 PGA Championship. To make the shorter calendar work within state instructional-minute requirements, the district added five minutes to the end of each school day.
The longest scheduled breaks are Thanksgiving week, November 23-27; winter break, December 21-January 4; and spring break, March 15-19. There are also shorter clusters of days off on September 7-8, October 9 and 12-13, and February 12 and 15, plus single no-school days on January 18 and April 30. March 26 and April 16 are conditional bad-weather make-up dates, so neither should be treated as a guaranteed day off.
Frisco ISD secondary students do not all follow the same daily schedule. High school students use the district's A/B calendar and attend four of their eight classes each school day, while middle school students use a modified block schedule. The high school calendar also includes several late-arrival schedules, including grade-specific arrangements on October 1.
Common questions
The first day is Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The high school A/B calendar marks it as a late-arrival A day, so high school families should follow campus instructions for arrival details.
The last student day is Friday, May 14, 2027, and the fourth reporting period ends that day. Frisco ISD is ending the school year one week earlier than normal because of expected PGA Championship traffic and crowding.
The Board approved an earlier ending date because the May 2027 PGA Championship is expected to bring heavy traffic and large crowds to Frisco. Five minutes were added to each school day to help meet state instructional-minute requirements.
Thanksgiving break runs Monday, November 23, through Friday, November 27, 2026. Students return Monday, November 30.
Winter break is December 21, 2026, through January 4, 2027. Students return Tuesday, January 5, which is also the start of the third reporting period.
Spring break is March 15-19, 2027. Students return Monday, March 22.
Yes. Both Monday, September 7, and Tuesday, September 8, 2026, are no-school days. Students return Wednesday, September 9.
Frisco ISD does not label the October dates as Fall Break on its student calendar. Students have no school Friday, October 9, and Monday-Tuesday, October 12-13, creating a five-day break when the weekend is included. Classes resume Wednesday, October 14.
Yes. February 12 and February 15, 2027, are both no-school dates. Together with the weekend, they create a continuous four-day break, with classes resuming February 16.
No. Monday, January 18, is a districtwide no-school day for students.
No. Friday, April 30, 2027, is a no-school day for Frisco ISD students. Classes resume Monday, May 3.
No. Frisco ISD reserves March 26 and April 16, 2027, as bad-weather make-up days. Students attend on either date only if the district uses it to recover instructional time.
The four reporting periods run August 12-October 8, October 14-December 18, January 5-March 5, and March 8-May 14.
Regular school hours are 7:45 a.m.-3:10 p.m. for elementary, 8:25 a.m.-3:50 p.m. for middle schools and Wortham Intermediate, and 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for high schools. The CTE Center runs 8:45 a.m.-4:35 p.m., the Student Opportunity Center 8:15 a.m.-3:25 p.m., and Early Childhood School lists 7:40 a.m.-3:05 p.m. for its full-day program, 7:40-10:50 a.m. for its morning program and 11:55 a.m.-3:05 p.m. for its afternoon program. For 2026-27, Frisco ISD added five minutes to the end of the school day.
Frisco ISD high school students follow the A/B calendar and attend four of their eight classes on each school day. Middle schools use a different modified block schedule.
A and B days divide a high school student's eight classes into two four-class schedules. The student's campus schedule identifies which four courses meet on each day.
No. Middle school students attend all eight periods on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, odd-numbered classes on Wednesday, and even-numbered classes on Thursday.
The high school A/B calendar marks special schedules on August 12, October 1, April 6 and April 21. October 1 varies by grade: students in grades 9 and 12 report at 12:15 p.m., while grades 10 and 11 report for the PSAT/NMSQT. Families should follow campus instructions for the other late-arrival dates.
No. Grades 10 and 11 take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 1, while grades 9 and 12 follow a 12:15 p.m. late-arrival schedule. Students should follow the instructions sent by their high school.
Not necessarily. The student calendar states that absences for all religious holy days will be excused, even when the observance falls on a regular school day.
The districtwide attendance dates apply across Frisco ISD. The A/B rotation is for high schools, while individual campuses may publish separate bell schedules, testing instructions and late-arrival details.

Source and scope
This page is based on Frisco ISD's one-page 2026-2027 Student Calendar, the one-page high school A/B Calendar, and current district guidance on testing, bell schedules and secondary scheduling, checked October 5, 2026. The Board approved the academic calendar November 17, 2025.
The Student Calendar's colored month grid was checked against its legend and reporting-period markers. The A/B PDF was treated as a supplemental high school schedule, not a second academic calendar. Only its late-arrival exceptions were added as events; regular A and B labels remain available in the official PDF.
March 26 and April 16 are conditional bad-weather make-up dates. Families should also follow campus messages for high school late-arrival instructions and any emergency calendar changes.
