Planning notes
The 2026–2027 Instructional Calendar school calendar begins Aug 12, 2026 and ends May 26, 2027.
Attendance and break-length figures are calculated from dated entries and count early-release dates as attendance days, not full instructional days. Grading-period ends are not report-card distribution dates. State/AP windows apply to assigned students, not every student on every day. The Even/Odd document does not assign letters to early-release cells. Confirm campus arrangements and any emergency calendar changes with Keller ISD.
Editorial summary
Keller ISD begins classes Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with a three-day first week. Students are off Friday, October 9, for Parent-Teacher Conference Day before Fall Break, which runs October 12-16. Students are also off November 3 for Election Day, and Thanksgiving Break runs November 23-27.
Winter Break is listed December 21-January 4 on the current instructional calendar, followed by a January 5 student holiday; the third grading period begins January 6. Grades 9-12 dismiss early December 17 and May 25, while all schools dismiss early December 18 and May 26. Elementary schools dismiss at 11:55 a.m., intermediate schools at noon, and middle and high schools at 12:45 p.m.
Students are also off March 12 before Spring Break, which runs March 15-19. March 26 and March 29 create a separate four-day weekend for students, and April 23 is another district holiday.
Keller ISD also publishes a separate Even/Odd instructional calendar. For bad-weather closures, the district says the calendar includes enough banked instructional minutes to cover two lost instructional days instead of adding make-up days.
Common questions
Keller ISD students start Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The first grading period begins that day; the August 3-11 teacher-preparation and professional-learning dates are not student attendance days.
The last student day is Wednesday, May 26, 2027, with early release at all schools. May 27 is a teacher-preparation day, not an extra day of classes.
No. Monday, September 7, 2026, is a Keller ISD District Holiday for Labor Day. Students return Tuesday, September 8.
No. Friday, October 9, is a Student Holiday/Conference Day. District administrative offices remain open that day; districtwide Fall Break begins Monday, October 12.
The official Fall Break is October 12-16, 2026. Students are also off October 9 for Parent-Teacher Conference Day and return Monday, October 19.
No. Tuesday, November 3, is a student holiday and professional-development day. Keller ISD says several district schools are typically used as Election Day polling locations, which is one reason students are off that day.
Keller ISD Thanksgiving Break runs Monday, November 23-Friday, November 27, 2026. Students return Monday, November 30.
The current Keller ISD instructional calendar lists Winter Break from December 21, 2026, through January 4, 2027. January 5 is a separate student holiday, and students return Wednesday, January 6. A December 2025 Board announcement described Winter Break as continuing through January 6; this page follows the current instructional calendar for the student return date.
No. Monday, January 18, 2027, is District Holiday (MLK Day). Classes resume Tuesday, January 19.
No. Monday, February 15, is District Holiday (Presidents Day). Students also have no school Friday, February 12, for teacher professional development, creating a four-day weekend; classes resume February 16.
Official Spring Break is March 15-19, 2027, with students back Monday, March 22. March 12 is a separate teacher-preparation student holiday, so the continuous no-class period begins that Friday.
No. March 26 is a district holiday, and March 29 is a student holiday for a teacher work day. These dates form a four-day weekend, not an extension of Spring Break: students have classes March 22-25.
Yes. Friday, April 23, is listed as a District Holiday, with schools and offices closed. The calendar does not give the holiday another name.
Keller ISD highlights five extended student weekends: September 5-7, January 16-18, February 12-15, March 26-29 and April 23-25. The October and winter no-school periods are longer school breaks rather than long weekends.
Students have no classes October 9 and November 3, 2026, and January 5, February 12, March 12 and March 29, 2027. The calendar identifies these as conference, professional-development, teacher work or teacher-preparation days.
December 17, 2026, and May 25, 2027, are early-release dates for grades 9-12 only. December 18, 2026, and May 26, 2027, have early release at all schools. Those two additional early-release dates apply only to grades 9-12.
The district's 2026-27 Early Release Information page lists elementary dismissal at 11:55 a.m., intermediate dismissal at noon, and middle and high school dismissal at 12:45 p.m. On December 17 and May 25, only grades 9-12 dismiss early.
Yes. Keller ISD says lunch is provided at all campuses on early-release days. Campus principals approve adjustments to lunch schedules and offerings so students have access to lunch.
Yes, students still attend on early-release dates. The district says students must be present for their designated hours to be considered in attendance. This page's calculated attendance total counts a shortened day as one attendance date, not a full instructional day.
The listed schedule gives 169 attendance dates: 206 weekdays from August 12 through May 26, minus 37 no-school weekdays. This is a calculated total, not a day count printed in the PDF. Early-release dates count as attendance dates; weather-related changes could alter the schedule.
The instructional calendar shows grading periods running August 12-October 8, October 19-December 18, January 6-March 11, and March 22-May 26. The calendars show grading-period boundaries but do not list report-card or progress-report distribution dates.
The yellow assessment cells cover April 5-9, 12-16, 19-22 and 26-30, plus May 3-7 and 10-14, 2027. April 23 is a district holiday, not a testing date. These are calendar windows, not a statement that every student tests on every marked day.
E marks an Even day and O an Odd day. The companion PDF has the same holidays and student-year dates as the instructional calendar, with E/O letters added to the dated grid. August 12 is marked E. Follow your campus's timetable for which classes meet.
The printed grid marks October 19 and November 30 as O days, January 6 and March 22 as E days, and March 30 as an E day. Read each dated letter rather than assuming the same weekdays or calendar-date numbers always have the same schedule.
The Even/Odd grid does not print an E or O letter on December 17-18 or May 25-26. Those cells show early release instead. The PDF does not explain the class sequence on these shortened days, so use your campus's instructions.
The published calendar does not designate specific bad-weather make-up dates. Keller ISD says the calendar includes enough banked instructional minutes to cover two days lost to inclement weather, so those minutes would be used instead of adding make-up days. Any closure beyond that would depend on later district guidance.
Keller Collegiate Academy graduates Thursday, May 27, 2027, at 6 p.m. at Northwood Church. Keller High School, Timber Creek High School, Central High School and Fossil Ridge High School hold their ceremonies Sunday, May 30, at Dickies Arena, with ceremonies scheduled at 8 a.m., noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.
Keller ISD publishes a separate Even/Odd Instructional Calendar alongside the districtwide calendar. Families should follow the Even/Odd version when directed by their campus and use campus guidance for daily class schedules.
Keller ISD's Calendar page links both the printable 2026-2027 Instructional Calendar and the separate Even/Odd Instructional Calendar. The calendar downloads on this page point to those district-hosted files.

Source and scope
The official Instructional Calendar supplies the first and last days, student holidays, early release, grading-period brackets and State/AP assessment cells. The Even/Odd PDF repeats those dates and adds E/O letters. The Early Release Information page supplies dismissal times, lunch guidance and attendance requirements. The Board calendar announcement supplies the three-day opening week, Election Day context, five extended weekends and the two-day banked-minutes policy. The Graduation page supplies the five ceremony schedules.
The two PDFs are represented by one student-year page because their attendance dates match. The October calendar grid places the first grading-period closing bracket after October 8 and before the October 9 Student Holiday, so October 8 is stored as the period end. Consecutive December and January Winter Break entries share the same official label and are joined; January 5 remains a separate student holiday. The current Instructional Calendar places the third grading-period start on January 6, so January 6 is retained as the student return despite the older Board announcement describing Winter Break as continuing through that date. March 26 and March 29 are separated by status. Assessment ranges follow contiguous yellow weekdays, excluding weekends and April 23. Teacher-only preparation before school starts and after it ends, summer office closures and Memorial Day are excluded. Graduation events supplement the instructional PDF with the current school-by-school schedules from the district Graduation page.
The two PDFs do not print an approval or revision date. The current PDFs, calendar page, early-release page, Board announcement and Graduation page were checked October 5, 2026. The Board approved the calendar December 18, 2025, but that approval date is not treated as a PDF revision date. The January return conflict is retained in sourceDiscrepancies, with the current Instructional Calendar controlling the published student date.
