The 2026–2027 School Calendar school calendar begins Aug 12, 2026 and ends May 27, 2027.

Editorial summary
The 2026–27 school year begins Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and ends Thursday, May 27, 2027. December 17 is the last student day before winter holidays, while May 27 is the final day of the school year. Both are early-dismissal days for all levels. The district calendar does not specify dismissal times, so check your campus schedule when planning pickup.
Lubbock ISD's GOALS Day falls on Friday, October 30, 2026, and is marked as a full-day event for all levels. Miller Elementary says students do not have regular classes that day and families should schedule parent-teacher conferences. Check with your child's campus for its arrangements. Fall Break follows on Monday, November 2, with regular classes resuming Tuesday, November 3.
Students have November 23–27 off for Thanksgiving. November 23–25 are student holidays and staff FLEX days, while November 26–27 are holidays for students and staff. Classes resume November 30. Winter holidays run December 18 through January 4, followed by a student holiday for staff development on January 5. Students return January 6. Students also have a four-day weekend February 12–15, with staff development on Friday and Presidents' Day on Monday.
Spring Break runs March 15–19, 2027. Students also have Friday, March 12, off for staff development, giving them ten consecutive days without regular classes when weekends are included. Classes resume Monday, March 22. Friday, March 26, is a separate student and staff holiday, while March 29 is a scheduled holiday that could become a weather make-up day.
April 29–30 are also scheduled holidays that may be used to make up weather closures. May 3 is a separate student holiday for staff development, so families should not count on an uninterrupted April 29–May 3 break until the district confirms whether make-up days are needed. The calendar also lists April 5–30 as the STAAR testing window. Individual testing dates will come from each campus.
Common questions
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 12, 2026. It also marks the start of the first nine-week grading period.
The last student day is Thursday, May 27, 2027, with early dismissal for all levels. May 28 is a staff professional development day, not another student school day.
Friday, October 30, 2026, is marked as GOALS FULL Day for all levels on the district calendar. GOALS Day is used for parent-teacher conferences, not early dismissal. Miller Elementary says students do not have regular classes that day. Families should confirm attendance arrangements and conference times with their own campus.
Fall Break is Monday, November 2, 2026, a holiday for students and staff. Regular classes resume Tuesday, November 3.
Students are off November 23–27, 2026. November 23–25 are student holidays and staff FLEX days, followed by student and staff holidays November 26–27. Including weekends, students have nine consecutive days without regular classes, November 21–29. Classes resume Monday, November 30.
Winter holidays run December 18, 2026, through January 4, 2027. January 5 is a separate student holiday for staff development, so classes resume Wednesday, January 6. December 17 is an early-dismissal school day before the break.
Spring Break is March 15–19, 2027. Students also have Friday, March 12, off for staff development. Including weekends, students are away from regular classes March 12–21 and return Monday, March 22.
The district calendar lists early dismissal for all levels on December 17, 2026, and May 27, 2027. It does not specify dismissal times. Check your child's campus schedule for the exact dismissal time.
March 29 and April 29–30, 2027, are scheduled student and staff holidays that may be used for weather make-up instruction if needed. They are not confirmed school days. Check district announcements before making plans that depend on those dates being holidays.
Lubbock ISD lists April 5–30, 2027, as its STAAR testing window. Students do not take exams every day of this period. The window does not mean weekends become school days or override the conditional April 29–30 holidays. Your child's campus will provide the applicable testing dates.

Source and scope
Dates follow Lubbock ISD’s official 2026-27 School Calendar, checked October 27, 2026. The PDF supplied for this review matches the file reached through the district’s February 2, 2026 Board-approved-calendar announcement. That announcement confirms approval but does not give the adoption date, so approvedAt remains null. Miller Elementary’s July 23, 2026 GOALS notice supports the conference explanation.
Read the 2026-27 page heading rather than the legacy PDF metadata title 25-26Calendar. The December 17 caption says Last Day of School, but subsequent January–May student dates and the May 27 endpoint establish it as the last day before winter holidays. Preserve that caption in officialLabel. The all-level GOALS attendance interpretation combines the PDF’s full-day conference designation with the Miller campus notice and is derived, not an invented district closure announcement. Separate the November FLEX days from the staff/student holidays and the two printed winter-holiday ranges. Confirmed breaks include adjacent weekends; conditional weather dates do not extend a confirmed break. STAAR is a window, not daily testing or an attendance override. Staff-only August preparation and May 28 development are excluded. The 170-day baseline is calculated, not an official printed total. The local Downloads file was inaccessible because of system permissions; the reviewed source was downloaded from the official URL.
Check the district’s calendar documents, News and Live Feed for revisions or weather make-up decisions. Campus announcements supply conference appointments, testing assignments, bell times and early-dismissal arrangements. A 2025-26 weather notice canceling high-school late-start Wednesdays is not treated as a 2026-27 schedule.
