Editorial summary

How the OCA and OCTECHS calendar works

OCA and OCTECHS use the early-college calendar rather than ECISD's regular district calendar. Grade 9 begins Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and grades 10-12 begin Wednesday, August 12. Fall 1 college classes begin August 18, followed by Fall 2 on October 13, Spring 1 on January 12 and Spring 2 on March 16.

OCA and OCTECHS students have four-day breaks September 4-7 and October 9-12, each combining a professional-development day with a Monday holiday. A November 20 professional-development day starts another extended break before Thanksgiving; students return November 30.

Students remain out from the December 18 teacher workday through the January 5 professional-development day and return January 6. The March 5 teacher workday connects to Spring Break March 8-12. February 12 and May 21 are conditional inclement-weather make-up dates, not guaranteed student holidays.

It adds Odessa College term dates and moves several student no-school and make-up dates. September, October and Thanksgiving breaks differ, as do both inclement-weather make-up dates.

Do Odessa College classes follow every ECISD semester date?

No. The college class blocks have their own start and end dates inside the ECISD school year. Families should follow campus guidance when an Odessa College date and an ECISD date do not match.

Does the early-college calendar include Summer Learning?

The early-college calendar also marks Summer Learning dates after May 27. OCA and OCTECHS families should check campus or ECISD summer-learning information for participation dates and hours.

Where can families download the official OCA/OCTECHS calendar?

Can the OCA and OCTECHS calendar change during the year?

Yes. Weather closures may activate a make-up date, and Odessa College or ECISD may adjust schedules. Campus announcements are the final authority for students.

About the Ector County ISD 2026–2027 OCA / OCTECHS early-college calendar calendar

Data source

This route uses Ector County ISD's official 2026-2027 OCA & OCTECHS Academic Year Calendar D-2, the district calendar page and the February 17, 2026 Board minutes approving the early-college calendar. The PDF is specifically for the two early-college high schools at Odessa College.

How dates are handled

The ECISD dates, Odessa College term markers, colored month grid, legend and instructional-day totals were checked together. Official holidays, professional-development days and teacher workdays remain separate events; the breaks section combines adjacent no-school dates only to show practical family-planning windows.

Updates

February 12 and May 21 are conditional inclement-weather make-up dates for OCA and OCTECHS. These differ from the regular district calendar. The early-college calendar also marks Summer Learning dates after May 27; families should check campus or ECISD summer-learning information for applicable dates and hours.
